Hyderabad: The upcoming horror-comedy film ‘The Raja Saab’, starring Prabhas, has faced multiple delays, with the release now scheduled for Sankranthi 2026. Producer TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory recently revealed that a VFX supervisor initially hired for the project caused significant setbacks, including extortion and threats, which delayed the film’s post-production.

Producer speaks on VFX issues

In an interview with NTV, Vishwa explained that the supervisor failed to complete any work until October 2024, despite the film’s original post-production schedule targeting April 2025. “He made us delay our movie because he didn’t do any of the work until October 2024. We were supposed to come in April 2025,” the producer said.

While the supervisor’s name was not disclosed, social media discussions, including Reddit threads, have speculated that it could be Kamal Kannan.

Vishwa alleged that the supervisor had a history of similar issues, including being ousted from SS Rajamouli’s SSMB 29 project. “He didn’t work on a single shot and just kept everything with him, taking a monthly fee for his entourage and team. He threatened the director that he would quit if he said something,” Vishwa added.

The producer emphasised that such behaviour has disrupted not only The Raja Saab but other projects as well. “Someday, I’ll show him what the fee is for his extortion,” he said, highlighting the financial and scheduling strain caused by the supervisor.

About The Raja Saab

The Raja Saab is written and directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. The film features Prabhas in the lead role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan—making her Telugu debut—and Riddhi Kumar.

The horror-comedy has already drawn attention for its promotional material, with critics pointing to visual effects that appear substandard. Despite these challenges, the film is now slated for theatrical release on 9 January 2026.

Conclusion

The revelations by TG Vishwa Prasad underscore the challenges faced in the post-production of high-budget Indian films, particularly when dealing with key technical teams like VFX supervisors. With the release now scheduled for early 2026, both fans and industry watchers will be keen to see whether The Raja Saab overcomes its VFX hurdles and delivers on its horror-comedy promise.
