The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups have released the film’s first song, Tabaahi, giving audiences their first extended look at the on-screen chemistry between Yash and Kiara Advani. The romantic track features the lead pair in visually striking locations, blending romance with the film’s mysterious and intense atmosphere.
The music video showcases Yash and Kiara sharing intimate moments across picturesque settings, while also introducing key female characters played by Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria. Nayanthara appears as Yash’s trusted aide, whereas Tara Sutaria portrays his mistress, hinting at the complex relationships that will unfold in the film.
The video opens with a quote by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi: “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there,” setting the emotional tone for the romantic track.
Song released in multiple languages
Tabaahi has been launched in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam to cater to audiences across India. Composer Vishal Mishra has scored the music, while the lyrics have been adapted into different languages by leading lyricists.
Raj Shekhar penned the Hindi lyrics, Yogaraj Bhat wrote the Kannada version, Ramajogayya Sastry handled the Telugu lyrics, Vignesh Shivan wrote the Tamil version, and Rafeeq Ahammed penned the Malayalam lyrics.
Earlier this year, the makers had released only the audio version of the song along with a romantic poster featuring Yash and Kiara standing together by the seaside.
Film teasers sparked discussions
Toxic has released three teasers so far. The first introduced the film’s dark and action-packed world, while the second surprised fans with Yash sporting a clean-shaven look.
The latest teaser, however, generated mixed reactions on social media due to its bold portrayal of female characters and sensual visuals. It introduced Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth before shifting focus to Yash’s action-packed character.
Release delayed to August
Originally scheduled for multiple earlier release dates, Toxic will now hit theatres on August 26. The makers had earlier announced a postponement, citing the need to align the film’s worldwide release and distribution strategy.
In a statement, the production team said they wanted to ensure the film reached global audiences with maximum impact. Yash also stated that the delay would help present the film on a larger international scale as Indian cinema continues to expand its global presence.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film has been shot in Kannada and English and will also be released in dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
