Ghaziabad: Two wanted shooters involved in the recent firing at Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly were gunned down in a police encounter near Tronica City on Wednesday. The men, identified as Ravindra alias Kallu and Arun, were active members of the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang and were wanted in several criminal cases across multiple states.
Shooters tracked after Bareilly attack
The breakthrough came after police traced the duo on the same motorcycle used during the September 12 firing outside Patani’s house. Acting on intelligence inputs, teams from the Delhi Police, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Haryana STF jointly launched an operation in Ghaziabad.
According to police officials, when confronted, the accused opened fire, prompting retaliatory action. Both Ravindra and Arun were critically injured in the exchange and were rushed to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
A Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, and several live cartridges were recovered from the encounter site, police confirmed.
Goldy Brar gang had claimed responsibility
The Goldy Brar gang had taken responsibility for the attack in a social media post shortly after the September 12 incident. The post alleged that the Patani family had insulted Sanatana Dharma by making derogatory remarks against saints Premanand Maharaj and Anidruddhacharya Maharaj.
Investigators believe the firing was not a random act but a targeted attack aimed at intimidating Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, a retired police officer.
How the Bareilly attack unfolded
According to the FIR lodged by the Bareilly police, the incident occurred around 3:30 am on September 12. Jagdish Patani was alerted by the barking of his dogs and stepped onto the balcony, where he noticed two men on a motorcycle.
When he asked them who they were, one of the assailants reportedly said, “Kill him,” before opening fire. Several rounds were discharged, including two aerial shots. Patani managed to save himself by hiding behind a balcony pillar. Though bullets struck the house, he escaped without injuries.
The firing created panic in the locality and drew widespread attention as it targeted the family of a well-known Bollywood actor.
CM Yogi steps in, directs swift action
Following the incident, Bareilly police registered a case and launched a state-wide search for the culprits. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally spoke to Jagdish Patani over the phone and assured him of swift justice.
Security was immediately beefed up around the Patani residence, and police teams analysed CCTV footage, checked motorcycle movement records, and coordinated with crime branches in neighbouring states. This detailed investigation eventually led to the identification and tracking of the shooters in Ghaziabad.
Wider gang network under scrutiny
Police officials said both Ravindra and Arun had criminal histories and were closely associated with gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar, who are known to be operating from abroad. Authorities suspect that the duo was acting on instructions from gang leaders and may have been part of a larger plan to target high-profile individuals.
Investigators are now probing the wider network, including financial transactions and logistical support that enabled the shooters to travel and operate across state borders. Further arrests are expected as agencies coordinate with central intelligence units.
Public concern and police vigilance
The encounter has once again highlighted the reach of organised crime syndicates operating in North India. Residents of Bareilly and Ghaziabad expressed relief at the swift police action but also voiced concerns about gang violence spilling over into residential neighbourhoods.
Senior police officials said they are determined to dismantle the gang’s network and prevent such incidents in the future. “This encounter is a message that law enforcement will not tolerate attacks on innocent citizens or attempts to spread fear. The crackdown will continue,” a senior STF officer stated.
Conclusion
With the deaths of Ravindra and Arun, police have achieved a major breakthrough in the case, but the investigation is far from over. As the probe widens, authorities hope to identify others linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang and bring them to justice.
