Bollywood actor Vaani Kapoor, who was slated to appear alongside Fawad Khan in the much-anticipated romantic drama Abir Gulal, appears to have distanced herself from the project — at least on social media. All promotional content related to the film has been removed from her Instagram profile, fueling speculation.

The disappearance of posters, teaser clips, and behind-the-scenes photos came in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which sparked strong public and political backlash. Following this, government sources informed PTI that the release of Abir Gulal in India would be blocked, citing escalating cross-border tensions.

Observers noticed that Vaani’s entire collaboration history with Abir Gulal had disappeared. However, a clarification from her team suggested that Vaani herself was not responsible for deleting the posts. Since the posts were originally uploaded as Instagram collaborations, their removal by the film’s production house led to automatic deletion from Vaani’s feed.

This incident coincides with a broader digital clampdown — Instagram profiles of several Pakistani celebrities, including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, and Atif Aslam, have been inaccessible in India. Users trying to access these profiles are now greeted with the message:

“Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”

With Abir Gulal now officially shelved for Indian release, the future of such cross-border collaborations appears uncertain amidst the prevailing political climate.
