Even a decade after its release, Bangalore Days’ remains a beloved classic among movie buffs. The 2014 Malayalam film, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, and Parvathy Thiruvothu, became a cultural phenomenon. However, its Tamil remake, ‘Bangalore Naatkal’, failed to match the original’s impact.

In a 2020 interview, actor Rana Daggubati, who played Fahadh Faasil’s role in the Tamil version, admitted the remake was a mistake. “The film performed terribly at the box office. I wish we hadn’t remade such a beautiful film,” he reflected. Despite featuring a strong cast, including Arya, Bobby Simha, Sri Divya, and Prakash Raj, the film lacked the emotional depth and chemistry that made ‘Bangalore Days’ so special.

Directed by Bommarilu Bhaskar, the Tamil adaptation remained faithful to the storyline but failed to resonate with audiences. The film’s commercial failure derailed Bhaskar’s career, forcing him into a five-year hiatus before his comeback with ‘Most Eligible Bachelor’.

Though ‘Bangalore Naatkal’ faded into obscurity, ‘Bangalore Days’ continues to win hearts and is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
