Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his channel BeerBiceps, appeared before the Guwahati police on Friday for questioning in connection with his controversial remarks made on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. The investigation stems from Allahbadia’s comments on the show, which sparked widespread outrage on social media.
During his appearance at the Crime Branch office, Allahbadia was questioned for more than four hours. A viral video from the day shows the podcaster being escorted up a flight of stairs by police officials, with some apparent pushing and pulling. This has since fueled further attention, drawing public interest due to the tense interaction between the police and the YouTuber.
Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain, who led the investigation, confirmed that Allahbadia cooperated fully with the questioning. “He answered all our questions and assured us that he will continue to cooperate in the future,” Jain told reporters. The police also mentioned that four other individuals are yet to be questioned, including three participants from the show who have cited being out of the country. Notices will be sent to them, and further action will be taken accordingly.
The remarks that led to the investigation were made during a guest appearance on Raina’s YouTube show, where Allahbadia made controversial comments about parents and sex, triggering outrage and sparking multiple FIRs across India. Among those named in the FIR were fellow YouTubers Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, as well as the owner of the location where the show was filmed.
The Guwahati Police had registered the case on February 10 under multiple sections, including the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia, IT Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Although the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to Allahbadia, it also condemned his remarks as “vulgar” and accused him of having a “dirty mind.”
