Mangaluru: The seventh edition of Joshiana, the annual National Level IT Fest organized by the Department of Computer Applications at St Joseph Engineering College – Vamanjoor, Mangaluru was inaugurated at the Bishop Aloysius Paul Hall on Wednesday, September 28.
Joshiana will include competitions for the students of MCA, MS, M.Sc., M.Tech. and BE (CS & IS) courses. The event is expected to witness the participation of students from over 30 colleges across the region.
K. Srinivas Rao, Director, Software Quality Assurance at Robosoft Technologies, Udupi, was the guest of honor spoke on the occasion and said, “There are 3 factors influencing a human being. They are Environment, Education and Experience. There are a lot of things to learn outside the classroom as well.”
“Since the students of more than 25 colleges are assembled here, I want to not only motivate you, but also address the problems in the field. Paid technologies are diminishing and open-to-free technologies are growing. I would like to advise you to focus on the free open technologies that are present,” he added.
Rev. Fr Joseph Lobo, Director, SJEC delivered the presidential address. “We are inaugurating Joshiana with Josh, vigor, enthusiasm and with a lot of detail work. This adds to the vigor of these two days”. Fr Lobo further said that the event organised would not be found in classroom teaching. He also advised the students to work as a team and win trophies.
TecnoCrats President, Prithvi V Shetty welcomed the gathering and Vinaya S gave the vote of thanks.
