Mangaluru: “Go forward with food: Nutrition, Health and Fitness- Expo 2018’,” was organised by the management, staff and students of Father Muller College of Nursing, on May 5 at FMCI Campus premises, opposite the OPD.
The “Nutrition, Health and Fitness- Expo 2018” was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. Sanjana M Shenoy, consultant dietician, nutri health, by a traditional opening of the “palm jaggery”, which symbolises goodness and auspicious beginning and is highly valued due to medicinal properties and nutritive value.
In her address Prof. Sanjana congratulated the nursing fraternity for holding the event in order to educate the public. She also focused more on traditional eating habits.
President Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho, the Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, remembered the age old proverb “uta ballvanige rogavilla, mathu ballavanige jagalavilla”, and the old eating food stuffs like jackfruit and its seeds, which reminded the healthier habits of eating.
Rev. Sr. Jacintha welcomed the gathering and Sr. Deepa Peter the convenor, introduced the Chief Guest. Shiji P J proposed a vote of thanks.
Students of 3rd year B.Sc lead the gathering in prayer. The programme was compered by Sr. Nancy Priya Mathias and Joyce Fernandes.
