‘Young Graduates driven with ambition can change the World’ – Dr. Harvey G Stenger

Mangaluru: “India is the land of opportunity. Today, India is the global leader in IT Sector. There is an explosion of Learning, and Bangalore, the IT Hub has more Software Engineers than the Silicon Valley. Today’s Young Graduates driven with ambition with the right skills are here to solve the problems of the world and make a change in the world”, said Dr. Harvey G Stenger, President, Binghamton University, State University of New York, USA, in his Graduation address at the Graduation Ceremony 2018 held at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodabidri on the November 30.

The Graduation Ceremony was held at MITE Campus for the eighth batch of engineering graduates and ninth batch of Management Post Graduates.

Dr. Harvey addressed the graduates and mentioned that “India invented the concept of University like Takshila University in 700 BC and the Nalanda University. India’s Higher Education system, specifically in Science, Engineering and Maths is a model. There is an explosion of learning, and there are a lot of great reasons to be Optimistic.”

He also specifically pointed out the rich tradition of the district to which MITE belongs to and remarked that Dakshina Kannada is the ‘geneses’ of Education. Also, Dakshina Kannada is the land of Entrepreneurs and Center of Extensive Trade. He further remarked saying, “Both India and America cherish the history, tradition and culture. Today, India is poised to be the Top 10 Leader in Global economy. The massive railway engineering marvel is an example of Indian Engineering. This is India’s moment, and young graduates should grab this opportunity, and deeply engage in a domain that they love. Continue one’s personal growth, and find passion, and change the world.”

Dr. Harvey called upon the Graduates to work towards creating more innovations.

In addition to awarding the graduation certificates to the engineering graduates, management post graduates, and toppers in each branch were felicitated with the gold medals.

Vishal M Suvarna of Mechanical Engineering, Shreelakshmi Sherigar of Computer Science Engineering, Shubhashree Bhat of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Pradnya D Achari of Information Science & Engineering, Sowrab of Civil Engineering, Priyanka M of Aeronautical Engineering, Anna Rose Johny of Mechatronics Engineering and Glevita Serrao of MBA were given the Gold medal by the Chief Guest.

Prof. G R Rai, Advisor, MITE administered the Oath to the Graduates.

Rajesh Chouta, President, Rajalaxmi Education Trust in his presidential address asked the Graduates to be more committed to their profession and duty towards the nation building.

He said, “Learning is a continuous process. Graduation is not an end of Journey but a start to explore new challenges towards innovation, and be an innovator. Today, only a foundation is set, and you will advance in life by what you learn from hereafter. Look beyond what you have achieved today, and explore what change you can do. You may have different dreams and aspirations, but it is important to have a role model.”

He further mentioned the graduates to lead their life with passion and be proud alumni of MITE.

Dr. G L Easwara Prasad, Principal, MITE welcomed the gathering.

Dr. C R Rajashekar, Vice Principal, MITE delivered the Vote of thanks.

Glenson Toney and Jaya Shetty compeered the Program.
