12th Graduation Ceremony-2017 of St. Joseph Engineering College held

Mangaluru: The 12th Graduation Ceremony-2017 of St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor was held on November 11 at the college premises.

 

Dr. Karisidappa, Vice Chancellor, VTU congratulated the students for completion of their degree. In his address, he said, “Students with many years of hard work, diligence and perseverance have completed the engineering degree. Completion of a degree is not a small task. Students and their parents should be proud of their children.”

 

Lauding St. Joseph’s Engineering College, the VC said, “St. Joseph’s Engineering College is the most academically rigorous institution of learning in the state. It is the hallmark of academic excellence because of high standards in teaching, conducive environment for learning and passion for achieving excellence. This can be imbibed through the dedication, hard work and determination of the management and staff,” he added.

 

Continuing his speech VC also said, “Everyday our lives are impacted with the technology. Successful completion of degree is a matter of pride and this is a stepping stone to winning challenges in the life ahead. It may be technology, business acumen or industry knowledge, the success will come from the skill that you possess and ability to distinguish yourself. Always try to be an expert in your field. People are successful because they have taken risks in their life. Key attributes for success are discipline, commitment, hard work and concentration,” he said. 

 

He also said that people who don’t have job should not worry because worries will create inconvenience in life. Each individual has job opportunities but one should know how to grab the opportunity, he added.

 

Richard Lobo, Senior Vice President, HR, Infosys limited, said, “What you learn doesn’t depend on where you are from. Even in a difficult place of work there is an immense scope for learning.The learning doesn’t necessarily come from which college you went or under which professor you have studied or the company. But it depends upon how much you are willing to learn as a person. The most unlikeliest people and opportunities will give you the maximum learning”, he added.

 

On this occasion, 575 undergraduation students and 118 postgraduation (MBA, MCA and M Tech) students were awarded with graduation certificates.

 

Rev. Dr. Aloysuis Paul D’ Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese; Dr. Joseph Gonsalves, Principal, SJEC and Rev. Fr. William Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC were present.
