Mangaluru: The 8th Edition BPL tournament organized by the Alumni Association Besant Evening College was held recently at the Padua College ground in the city.
National Women’s Educational Institutions President Maneel Annappa Nayak and Managing Committee Member Satish Kumar Bhat inaugurated the tournament and greeted the participants.
Besant Evening College Principal Dr Lakshminarayana Bhat, former advisor of the association, Ganapathi Bhat M, Dr Vasappa Gowda, Alumni Association President Pradeep, Secretary Pranav Ganesh, Sports Secretary Manish, faculty members, alumni and students were present.
Six teams – Team Victory, Team Blue Streak, Team Dominate, Team Monk, Orange Army and Team Monster – participated in the tournament. Attractive prizes were announced for the winning teams and the best sportspersons of the series.
In the day-long league competitions, The Orange Army Team owned by Lohit Bajal emerged victorious and won the trophy. Team Victory owned by Gaurav Mohli were the Runners-up.
The awards were distributed at the valedictory function held in the evening. Businessman and Alumnus Uday Achar, College Principal Dr Lakshminarayana Bhat and SDM lecturer Praveen Dengody distributed the prizes to the winners.
Maduraj was adjudged man of the series.
Ambatanaya and Sunil won the Best Batsman and Best Bowler awards respectively.
President of the Alumni Association Pradeep presented the vote of thanks and Pratish Gourish compered the programme.
