Shivamogga: ABVP has condemned the project of establishing a special sports training centre complex at Sahyadri college by Shivamogga District administration, District Youth empowerment and Sports department.
As the notice of extending the project in more than 25 acres of the Sahyadri campus land along with the aim of converting an existing Commerce building of the institute to a Sports hostel is not acceptable.
Sahyadri college possesses a history of more than 75 years with 6000+ students in the Science, Commerce and Arts field currently. Utilizing the sports ground of the institute along with 25 acres of land of the institute will affect the future developmental programmes of the institute causing the lack of land. Students availing education currently are going through several problems like lack of classrooms, Labs and many other. The students in the current PG programme too are running out of classrooms and the dream of beginning with PG programmes in the Science and Arts field will require land space.
Auditorium, Digital library programmes of the college too require the land property. For all the developmental programmes to be held in future days the land becomes very precious. And so supporting the view of the students of this institute Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has requested the University to reject the demand received by the District administration.
