Mangaluru: As part of the Agnes Towards Community (ATC) initiative, the students of III B.A. of St. Agnes College (Autonomous), visited The Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa Home at Falnir, on Feb 25, 2023. The students aimed, specifically, to interact, entertain and amuse the retired and infirm residents of the old age home with help from its head sisters. Asha Albuquerque, Assistant Professor of English accompanied the students. The students conducted activities and entertained them through group songs, solo singing and dance performances. Such forms of entertainment appealed to them increasingly, driving away any boredom they might’ve had, and rousing their interest. Then the students interacted and made conversation with every single inhabitant, socializing with them and regaling them.
This visit aimed at sensitizing the students to the increasing number of old age homes in the country and to make them aware of the mental trauma that the aged go through because of abandonment. The students bid their goodbyes to them around lunchtime.
