AICTE’s Smart India Hackathon 2022 opens at Sahyadri

Mangaluru:  Smart India Hackathon 2022 – The world’s biggest open innovation model by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in New Delhi started at Sahyadri.

About 200 students from various colleges across India are participating in the Hackathon grand finale at Sahyadri Campus for two days to provide the solution to problem statements listed by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India in the area of Agriculture, Food Tech, and Rural Development.

Sahyadri College is one of the 75 nodal Centers for SIH pan India. The college is hosting 26 teams of 183 participants from several states across India.

The Chief Guest of the Nodal Centre level Inaugural function was Dr Karisiddappa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The guest of Honour was Sri. Manjunatha Bhandary MLC, Govt. of Karnataka, President, Bhandary Foundation, Mangaluru and Sri. Anil Kumar Chief Operating Officer, SKDRDP BC Trust, Dharmastala.

“Participation of young minds has changed the dynamic of our country,” the chief guest Dr Karisiddappa stated. He also showed his gratitude towards the Sahyadri College for hosting such an event. “Innovation and technology should be for the welfare of common people”, the guest of honour Sri. Anil Kumar stated.

The local inauguration was followed by the Central Inaugration for the Smart India Hackathon Grand Finale. The welcome address was given by Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe-Chairman, AICTE. Then Mr. Sunil P P-Head- Education, Space and NPO, AWS India and South Asia(SIH Partner) addressed the gathering. Dr Anand Deshpande; Founder & Chairman; Persistent Systems, Smt. Monika Garg, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Uttar Pradesh, and  Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Dr Subhas Sarkar also gave their insights. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MoE, GoI.

Mr. Jaggesh Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, Cine Actor and Director with his wife Mrs. Parimala Jaggesh, visited the campus and wished the participants luck.

Mr. Sadanand Shetty, Assistant General Manager, Union Bank of India also graced the occasion

So this is the time where all the participants can showcase their creativity solving problems trivial problems of the society which acts as a step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.

Sahyadri is proud to announce our College has been selected to Interact with PM Modi Ji during the Smart India Hackathon 2022 live interaction section scheduled at 8:30 PM today (25th August 2022).
