Moodibidri: Alva’s college students won both men’s and women’s Kabaddi competitions to lift the Viveka Cup at Swaraj Maidan. The tournament as held to commemorate National youth day celebrations 2017 coinciding with Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday.
In the men’s section, SDM College, Ujire stood second where as Vidyarashmi College from Savanur stood third. In the women’s section, Alva’s College of Physical education stood second followed by Vamanapadav College.
Mallikarjun from Alva’s was declared the best defender whereas Vishwaraj the best raider. In the women’s category, Pallavi was declared best defender whereas Athmiya, the best raider. Pratap from SDM and Kavya from Alva’s college of Physical education collected individual medals for their all-round performance.
In the valedictory function presided over by Alva’s institutional group head Mohan Alva, former minister K Amaranath Shetty gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries from various fields.
