Mangaluru: Kilimanjaro, known to be one of the climbing destinations to all those mountaineers, observes an Indian to have nailed the flag on its peak. This mammoth of the achievement is said to be achieved by one of the doctors of the Yenepoya Medical College named Dr. Guruprasad Bhat.
A doctor serving in the Yenepoya Medical College, Department of Cancer, Dr. Guruprasad Bhat, had practiced vigorously for two months and had reached Africa, prior to his task.
Dr. Guruprasad began climbing Kilimanjaro on October 7 and reached its peak within five days time. At the final stage, he began his journey in the dusk and reached the mountain peak, in the dawn of the fifth day. The time when he was at his final leap, the mountain was said to have been covered with a large volume of snow.
The experience that Dr. Guruprasad felt was unexplainable. He had nailed the flag on its peak, as the sun rays brushed the mountain.
