Moodbidire: A talk on ‘Crime, Youth and Society’ was conducted as a part of the inauguration of ‘Rostrum’, a speakers’ club of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology on Tuesday. The Chief dignitary and speaker was the encounter specialist PSI Daya Nayak himself.
“Moral policing will not correct the system but citizens supporting the police in maintaining and following law will definitely make a difference”, Daya Nayak said.
“The police department is responsible for maintaining law and order in the society and citizens are equally responsible to cooperate with the department and follow the law”, he noted.
Speaking about the situation that Indian police has to face, he mentioned, “It is globally accepted that the Scotland cops are the most effective police force in the world. But the fact is, Indian police work harder and functions more effectively than the Scotland police. The difference is that Scotland police receive co-operation from the citizens, while in India the inclination to abide by law is rather on lower side.”
He called upon the students to contribute valuable service to their motherland in one or another way. “Even after more than 70 years of Independence, the Police Act is still not amended. We still follow the outdated Police Act”, he lamented.
Alva’s Education Managing Trustee Vivek Alva, AIET Principal Dr Peter Fernandes, Rostrum President Raksha Satish, Secretary Murali Krishna Achari were the dignitaries present at the event.
