Mangaluru: The inauguration ceremony and orientation programme of the 11th batch of Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology was held on June 19.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with words of welcome by the Principal, Prof. Akhilesh P. M. Thereafter Dr B. Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services introduced the Chief Guest, Prof. Lokesh K. M. to the gathering.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. In his inaugural address, Prof. Lokesh K. M. spoke about the various research activities that he had carried out in Coorg and encouraged the students to do research activities. He applauded the new entrants for choosing B.ASLP, a course which is unique and new and gives an opportunity to serve the disabled population. He appreciated all the professionals working in this field and also the entrants for choosing the same.
Delivering the presidential address, Rev. Fr Richard Coelho congratulated the parents for encouraging their wards in taking up this course; a noble profession of helping individuals to overcome the debilitating effects of their communication disorders. Dr Santosh Kumar concluded the formal programme by delivering the vote of thanks.
In the second session of the programme, a documentary about the institution was projected to the gathering so as familiarize them about the institution, its ethos and culture. The fresher’s were given an opportunity to introduce themselves and were offered a floral welcome by their seniors. Aswini, III B.ASLP spoke to the students about her first day of College and also shared her experience of being a part of Muller family. Joyce, parent of a new entrant and alumni of Father Muller College of Nursing shared her experience of being a student and how the institute has helped her excel in her professional life.
Briefing on the rules and regulations of the College was given by the Director, Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Chief of Medical Services, Dr B. Sanjeev Rai; the principal, Prof. Akhilesh P. M. and Sr Cynthia, Assistant Professor. A brief introduction about Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology was also given by Susmitha and Dr Santosh, faculty of the College.
The day’s programme was concluded by Prof Akhilesh P. M. with words of encouragement to the students to make themselves comfortable and welcoming them once again to the Muller family.
