Mangaluru: A J Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated its Graduation Day and Annual Day at its plush campus on March 4.
The event was presided over by Dr. A J Shetty, President, LMET and Dr. K G Jagadeesha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner was the Chief Guest.
The colourful ceremony was highlighted by the taking of the “Hippocratic Oath” by young doctors and the distribution of qualification certificates and awards to fresh graduates.
Speaking at the event, honoured participant on the stage, Dr. Ashok Hegde mentioned that A J Institute was a futuristic endeavour of Dr. A J Shetty and equipped with cutting edge classrooms which shortly would also offer virtual classroom facility. He also cited the hospital’s primary goal, to eradicate poverty, ill health and illiteracy.
Chief guest Dr. K G Jagadeesha congratulated the degree holders and remembered his own convocation days. He also highlighted the importance of health, education and employment in the grander scheme of things. His parting address implored the young graduates to “learn from the place, institution and the people.”
Also gracing the occasion were Guest of Honour Dr. Shantaram Shetty and popular track athlete and Olympic medalist of yesteryears, P T Usha. The occasion was aesthetically organised and well attended by parents and the hospital administrative staff alike.
