Mysuru: The ‘School Parliamentary Election 2022–2023 of Ideal Jawa Rotary School at K R Mohalla here was held on Saturday July 16 at the school premises.
The ‘school election’ organised for the students is one of the most anticipated activities of the school and sets the tone for the rest of the year. This is done in a realistic manner so as to enlighten the students on how an election is held. The process started with the formation of an election committee and the framing of rules and regulations followed by, the filling of nominations, announcing the list of candidates, canvassing, posters with the photographs and details of each candidate being displayed and finally the casting of votes.
The students were oriented on how to stamp a ballot paper so that their vote is valid. This year 56 contestants from Classes 7 to 10 were in the poll for two posts of school secretaries, two posts for school head boy/head girl, four posts of house captains and vice captains, one each for Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz houses. Over 800 students from Classes 5 to 10 cast their votes.
