Mangaluru: The International Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgeons’ (OMFS) Day was celebrated by department of OMFS at A J Institute of Dental Sciences (AJIDS), Mangaluru on Monday, February 13. On account of the theme, “Plant a Tree, Save a Life” for the event, a sapling plantation programme was organised in the campus of A J Hospital in association with NSS unit, AJIDS.
CDE programme was conducted where Dr. Abhay Kamath, Professor & Head, Department of OMFS, Manipal College Of Dental Surgery, Manipal was the guest speaker. He gave an insight into “An overview on temporomandibular joint reconstruction” for the faculty and postgraduate students.
“Facecraft”, a documentary film, made by the interns of the college was released based on the theme of aesthetic facial surgery performed by maxillo-facial surgeons to bring about awareness among the people. A poster competition was held for the students on various topics of oral and maxillo-facial surgery and winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.
Principal Dr.Y Bharath Shetty, Vice Principal Dr. Raghavendra Kini, Head of the Dept. of Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery Dr. Manjunath Rai and other faculties of the dental college were present during the function.
