MAHE Department of Commerce Welcomes New Batch of Post Graduate Students for 2023

Mangaluru:  The Department of Commerce at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) proudly welcomed its new batch of postgraduate students marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey. With a rich history dating back to the launch of the BBA (e-Banking & Finance) Program in 2007, the Department continues to expand its horizons by introducing several niche Post Graduate Programs.

Over the years, the Department has diversified its program offerings to meet the evolving demands of the commerce and management sectors. MAHE now offers a diverse range of programs including M. Com Professional, Banking Technology and Logistics and Supply Chain. Recently, it introduced cutting-edge programs such as MSc in Business Analytics, Financial Economics, and Health Economics. Additionally, B. Com Professional and Business Process Management have been added to its impressive bouquet of courses, solidifying its position as a premier institution in the field.

The induction program for the 2023 batch featured Jaya Kumawat, Director of Data Analytics, and Insights at Clarivate Analytics, as the chief guest representing the industry. In her address to the incoming students, she emphasised the importance of developing a keen acumen for research and analysis. She underscored that these skills are essential for future managers to make timely and effective decisions in a dynamic business landscape.

Dr Harish Kumar, Director of Corporate Relations at MAHE, shared insights into the initiatives undertaken by the university to foster strong industry partnerships. He emphasized the university’s commitment to transforming students into highly employable resources, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers.

Dr Sandeep Shenoy, Head of the Department of Commerce, took the audience on a journey through the Department’s history since its inception. He provided an overview of the outstanding features and merits of the various programs offered, highlighting the Department’s commitment to staying at the forefront of education. He also emphasized that Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) holds the prestigious status of being an Institution of Eminence (IOE) and is dedicated to being a ‘trendsetter’ in the education space by continually launching industry-relevant courses that add value to the students’ learning experience.

Alumni, Achintya Dayal from Pharmalama and Vivan Ammanna from Allyn International shared their experience of the programs at DoC and congratulated the students for choosing DoC Manipal as their destination for their master’s career. They also highlighted the wide range of career opportunities that are awaiting the students in the corporate world.

The induction function was graced by the presence of faculty members including Dr Vikram Baliga, Dr Ambigai Rajendran, Dr Vadiraj Jagannath Rao, Prof. Sachin Chandra, Prof. Raghavendra Nayak, and Prof. Daniel Frank. The Department of Commerce at MAHE is committed to providing world-class education and equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in the competitive world of commerce and management.
