Manipal Pharma College holds workshop on Precision Medicine

Manipal: Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, Manipal has organized a High-End Workshop on ‘Clinical and Translational Research for Precision Medicine’, sponsored by DST-SERB, from July 25 to 30, 2022 at the seminar room, Department of Medical Education, MAHE.

Dr Mahadev Rao, Professor and event organizer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, has received a workshop grant from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Accelerate Vigyan Scheme ‘Karyashala’, Government of India, New Delhi. A total of 25 students from 21 institutes from 9 states are participating in the workshop, out of which 13 are PhD students and 12 are post-graduate students.

The workshop’s inaugural function was conducted on 25th July 2022 in the presence of dignitaries, participants and students from MAHE. Dr Sharath K. Rao, Dean, Kasturba Medical College, MAHE was the chief guest and Dr B. S. Satish Rao, Director of Research (Health Sciences) and Manipal School of Life Sciences, MAHE was the guest of honour. Dr C. Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences welcomed the gathering.

Speaking about the workshop Dr Mahadev Rao, Professor and event organizer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences said This workshop is meant to disseminate the knowledge in the area of translational research through a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional integrated learning approach so that the researchers are better equipped to integrate information from multiple domains and conduct independent or team-oriented research, thereby contributing to improved national and global health. We are elated to see the participation of post graduate and PhD students from across the country in our workshop”

Dr Sharath K. Rao, Dean, Kasturba Medical College, MAHE said “Precision medicine is extremely important in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients for deriving maximum clinical benefit. Workshops such as this will help in the development of translational research which is crucial in bridging laboratory and clinical research.

Dr Surulivel Rajan M, Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, thanked the gathering.
