Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police organised a mass rally an awareness programme on drugs for the youth on Tuesday, August 28. Thousands of students participated in the rally which started from Bunts Hostel Circle at 9.30 am and ended at TMA Pai International Convention Centre.

The students of Milagres Degree College actively participated in the rally by carrying placards and shouting out slogans.

Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala, who was the Chief Guest of the occasion, said that the youth of today must ingrain the idea of Vitamin ‘N’ or say ‘No to Drugs’ so that there is no need for the elders to counsel them against such pitfalls.

Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, released the Police Diary and saluted the spirit of the youth in responding to the campaign by participating in large numbers. He also said that if the youth say ‘No to Drugs’ from their hearts and reject temptations of succumbing to them, they will be on their way to becoming achievers rather than mere performers.

Chancellor of Yenepoya (deemed to be University) Abdulla Kunhi, DC of Dakshina Kannada Dr Sasikanth Senthil and Principal District Judge Kadlur Sathyanarayana Acharya were present on the dais.
