NITK Surathkal Hosts Int’l Conference ASSETS 2024

Mangaluru: The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, (NITK) Surathkal, inaugurated an international conference titled “Advancements in Smart Sustainable Energy Sources Technologies and Systems (ASSETS)”.

The inaugural ceremony was held on 11 March at 9:30 AM in the LHC-C, NITK Surathkal.

The esteemed Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Prof. K. Gopakumar, the Honorary Professor at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, IISc Bangalore. Prof. B Ravi, Director of NITK Surathkal, presided.

In his inaugural address, Prof. K. Gopakumar of DSDE, IISc Bangalore, underscored the significance of passion, self-learning, and diligence as key ingredients for success.

He urged the participants to capitalize on the educational opportunities available within the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) of India.

Prof. B Ravi, the Director of NITK, who presided over the event, emphasized the importance of networking and maintaining an open mind.

He encouraged the attendees to amalgamate the philosophies of the western and eastern world to pave the way for a smart and sustainable future.

Prof. B Ravi stressed the need to transcend beyond paper presentations, transform ideas into tangible products, file patents, and foster industry collaborations. This, he believes, is the path to innovation and progress.

The conference, scheduled for two days (11-12 March 2024), promises to be a great mix of ideas promoting smart sustainable energy sources. The Head of the EEE Department at NITK, Prof. D. N. Gaonkar, along with the organizing secretaries Dr A Karthikeyan and Dr Yashwant Kashyap, and other faculty members, were present at the inauguration.
