Mangaluru: The National Social Services (NSS) wing of NITTE Technical University in association with Red Cross, Rotary Club (Nitte), Nitte Gajriya Hospital, Nitte K S Hegde Medical College, Wenlock Hospital, Mechanical wing of AIMS Nitte unit and Udupi district hospital held a blood donation camp to commemorate Swamy Vivekananda’s 155th birthday on January 12.
Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar inaugurated the day long camp by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Niranjan said, “Blood donation exerts positive influence on society, where many people benefit. Donor too stays healthy by donating blood and enthusiastic students can make a huge difference to the cause”, while wishing the event every success.
Vice Principal Dr. I R Mithanthaya, Registrar Prof. Yogish Hegde, Student Welfare Officer Shekar Poojary, AIMS Coordinator Venkatesh Murthy, Nitte Gajriya Hospital Administrator Naresh Rai, Dr. Sharath from Wenlock Hospital and Dr. Veenakumari from Udupi district hospital were present on the occasion.
Dr. Janradhan Naik, Dr. S K Mahadevegowda, Mechanical department head Dr. Shashikanth Karinka provided adequate guidance during the camp and ensured its success.
Students, members of teaching fraternity and non-teaching staff took part in the day long camp.
A total of 394 units of blood was collected during the camp, stated the release from the institution.
