NMIT’s week-long plantation drive comes to end

Mangaluru: A week long tree plantation drive organized by Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Yelahanka in association with 1 Karnataka Signal Regiment NCC at Gantiganagalli village came to an end on Friday, August 18.

During the drive more than five hundred indigenous species namely Peepal tree, Hairyfig, Country fig, Jackfruit, Drumstick, Cannon Ball tree, Indian almond, Neem and Orange champak were planted in and around the village with the involvement of the villagers.

The cadets educated the villagers about the eternal value of trees and took an oath to water the plants during summer season.

Prof. Rajesh Nandalike, the chief of NCC wing of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Colonel Bhupesh Kumar, Commanding officer, 1Karnataka Signal Regiment and Major C. Raghavendra, Administrative officer of NCC were present throughout the tree plantation drive campaign.
