Moodabidri: The ongoing selection for 2020 and 2024 Olympics, organised by the National Yuva Co-operative Society is being held at Moodabidri Swaraj Maidan.

The first phase of the selection for six states of Southern India-Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa witnessed over 800 students taking part on January 30 and 31.
The ones being selected here will get an opportunity to represent at the national level and then to the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
The selection procedure is being done in a transparent manner and free of cost. The sportsmen selected here will get an opportunity to undergo training at the national and international levels over the next four to eight years, building them up to compete at the Olympics.
Alva’s Education Foundation made arrangement for accommodation as well as travel for over 1000 people who had come down to the educational hub of Moodabidri for the selection procedures.
The event was inaugurated by renowned athlete of India P T Usha on January 30 at Swaraj Maidan in presence of Co-operative President Rajesh Pande.
Moodabidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman M Mohan Alva among others were present.
The selection will wind up at 7.30 pm on January 31. The second round of selection will be held on February 3, 2017 at Jawaharlal Maidan, New Delhi.
