Mangaluru: The Kanachur Group of Institutions 69th Republic Day celebrations enthused patriotic spirit in the student community on January 26.
The day began with flag hoisting by group head U K Monu, followed by the welcome address by Prof. Iqbal Ahmed U T, Principal of the Kanachur Institute of Management.
Aniketh Ahmed, an eighth grade student briefed about the importance of R–day.
In his presidential address, group head U K Monu explained about the sacrifice of freedom fighters and the importance of Republic Day in free India. He narrated about the framing of Indian constitution by Dr. B R Ambedkar to evince interest about the country’s glorious past in the student community.
Prizes were given away to the winners of Road Safety Week competitions organised by Kanachur Medical College, (Community Medicine Centre) during January 2018.
Group Convener Abdul Rahman,Vice Dean of Kanachur Medical College Srisha Khandige, Administrative Officer Rohan Monis, principals Vinita Gama Rose Mathias, Anandi , Hemalatha and pre-primary section headmistress Lynette D’Souza were present on the occasion.
Student Sakhina Khanum compered the entire programme.
Dr. Suhail, Principal, Physiotherapy Department, Kanachur Medical College, proposed a vote of Thanks.
Children were offered sweets in the end to bring curtains down on the day’s celebrations.
