Mangaluru: The 2 day Robotic and 3D Laparoscopic Live Surgical Workshop organized by the Departments of Urology, Surgical Oncology & Gynaecology of the Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Minority Welfare & Wakf Department, Govt. of Karnataka B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan.
Yenepoya Mohammed Kunhi, Chairman, Yenepoya Group, Dr Ashok Kumar K V, Former Head, Department of Surgical Gastroentrology, Bangalore Medical College, Dr Gopinath K S, Consultant Surgical Oncologist & Director, HCC Hospital, Bangalore and Dr Percy J Chibber, Former President, Urological Society of India & Director, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai were the Guests of Honour. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Chancellor, presided over the function and Vice Chancellor, Dr M Vijayakumar was the Organising Chairman of the programme.
In his inaugural address the Minister appreciated the work done by the Yenepoya Medical College especially introducing Robotic surgery for teaching and training of professionals. He also said that the government will support the University’s proposal for conducting cancer screening camps throughout Karnataka.
The Chancellor, Mr Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi commended the work done by the Yenepoya Robotic Centre in the short span of 2 years. The centre has been able to provide service to people from all sections of the society through government schemes.
Dr Mujeeburehman, Organising Secretary welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Jalaluddin Akbar, Organising Secretary. Dr Basila and Dr Nancy compered the programme.
