Mangaluru: The Mangalore Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering (MIFSE) celebrated ‘National Safety Day’, in its brand new campus at Adyar, here on Tuesday, March 6, with around 200 students with the collaboration of several companies.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Managing Director of MIFSE, Vinod K John said, “The main motto of this day is not only to create awareness about safety towards industries and labourers but also public so that even they are aware of safety measures”.
Regional Fire Officer, Mangaluru Division G Thippeswamy presided over the programme.
He said, “As the number in fire cases are increasing seemingly day-by-day, the responsibility should not be restricted only to professionals but also passed on to the public so that even they can respond during such catastrophes”.
Thippeswamy also pronounced the theme of the day, “Work together to ensure safe and healthy atmosphere”.
Meanwhile, he inaugurated the safety rally in which around 200 students, staff and public participated.
The participants carried placards along with them which had awareness messages regarding safety towards accidents.
The rally which began from Adyar katte moved towards Kannur village along the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway and reached back to the campus, completing a 6-km-stretch.
The programme was held under the leadership of Principal of MIFSE Yashwanth Gopal Shetty and Administrator Sanath K B.
The staff of MIFSE namely Mukbal Shareef, Obaiah, Rahil. Pramila, Rajesh and others were present.
