Mangaluru: The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), a statutory body to promote and advance engineering and technology, has accredited all engineering programmes – Civil, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Information Science – offered at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru. This accreditation will enable the college’s students to become corporate members of IEI on the completion of their respective programmes.
Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, said, “Engineers must learn not only in classrooms but also be involved in R&D through projects, in order to face challenges and utilise the widespread opportunities.” He also emphasised that being an engineer won’t suffice, however, one should be ‘engineered to be an engineer’ which makes them productive in society.
