Mangaluru: A one-day Leadership Development Programme (LDP) was organized by the MBA Department of Sahyadri college of Engineering & Management for the undergraduate Student Council Members on September 20.
A total of 221 students from 22 colleges of the Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts participated in the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. K V Malini, Principal of Canara College, Mangaluru and guest of honour Pruthvi Ambar, Sandalwood and Coastalwood actor.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA welcomed the gathering and gave a brief overview of Sahyadri.
Prof. Sushma V, chief coordinator of the programme, spoke about the four-year journey of LDP at Sahyadri and how they have scaled higher in terms of number of participants as well as quality.
Dr. K V Malini, shared her perspective on being a leader and appreciated Sahyadri for organizing a thoughtful event for outside students.
Pruthvi Ambar spoke about his journey as a follower and his efforts to become a leader.
Principal Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, who presided over the programme, motivated students to note down the key takeaways of the sessions and practice them in their role as a Student Council Member in their respective colleges.
The first session was facilitated by Dr. Vishal Samartha and the topic was “Life Skills through Story Telling”. The second session was by Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty on the topic “Corporate Expectation from Budding Leaders”. The third session was conducted by Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning on “Leaders are not born, but made” and the last session was by Prof. Samarth Shenoy on “Lead, Follow or Perish”.
Following this, the participants visited the in-house companies in the campus and interacted with the industry heads.
The day-long event concluded with the valedictory ceremony in which participants shared their opinion of the programme and the Resource persons were felicitated for their efforts.
