SJEC holds Drug Abuse awareness session for firstyear students

Mangaluru: The Discipline and Equity group of SJEC organized an Awareness program on Drug Abuse for first-year BE students on 20 July 2023 at 4 p.m. in Kalam Auditorium.

Vinod Kumar, Assistant Sub Inspector, Vamanjoor Police Station, in his talk, emphasized the personal responsibility of the students and the risks associated with using alcohol and other drugs. He encouraged the students to prevent drug addiction, advised the students not to become victims of drug abuse and to become socially responsible to build a healthier society.

Bharathi, Head Constable, Vamanjoor police station addressed the students about the legal aspects and the punishment for the drug abusers and peddlers. Bharathi motivated students to inculcate good habits and spend quality time by doing yoga and exercise. Tirumalesh, Civil Constable, Vamanjoor police station, narrated the story of the victim of drugs through a short video.

Sikandar, Civil Constable, Vamanjoor Police Station, accompanied the police officials and supported the event. The awareness session benefited a crowd of nearly 500 First-year BE students. Director In-charge Rev Fr Kenneth Crasta and Dr Rio D’Souza Principal SJEC were present for the talk. Rakesh Lobo, HR Manager welcomed the police officials and Dr Ramananda H S Dean-Student welfare proposed the vote of thanks. Salma Shabnam, Assistant Professor, Dept of Mathematics compered the event.  Prasad S M, Chairperson of the Discipline and Equity Group, coordinated the event.
