Mangaluru: The Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Commerce, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), organized the grand finale of Masthishka 2023 – A Cerebrum Hack – an interclass Business Quiz competition conducted for the final year students of Commerce and Business Administration.
CA Sunitha R Furtado, partner, Nitin J Shetty & Co., Mangaluru, was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Masthishka. Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, Principal, presided over the programme. Dr Loveena Lobo, Director of Maffei Block, Jennifer Maria Quadros, HOD of PG Studies and Research in Commerce, Niveditha & Renita Joyce Fernandes, the programme convenors were present on the dais.
Dr Awlyn D’Sa, Registrar & Controller of Examination of the College; Dr Denis Fernandes, Director of Arrupe Block and staff members were present for the programme.
CA Sunitha in her inaugural address stated that students should convert their academic knowledge into action and cultivate critical thinking skills during emergency times. It is important to take part in quizzes and puzzles which will activate our brains. She also said that reading habit is most important in life and through reading, students will get more knowledge of current affairs. Nowadays, anyone can gather information through various technological avenues, but a methodical manner will keep everything in order, she added.
Rev. Dr Praveen Martis in his presidential remarks encouraged the students to higher studies and research. He suggested the students be passionate in their learning process.
Dr Shakira Irfana, a Staff of PG Commerce was the Quiz Master for the pre-finals and Mohammed Thouseef, a Staff of PG Commerce was the Quiz Master for the finals.
Edna Menezes, student coordinator compered the programme. Fr Vishwas Misquith welcomed the gathering. Askar Thayyil, student co-coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
