St Paul’s College conferred 3 awards at Corporate Communication Excellence Awards 2021

Goa: St Paul’s College, Bengaluru bagged 3 awards at Corporate Communication Excellence Awards 2021 in the 15th Global Communication Conclave organized by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) in Goa.

The College received Chanakya Award for the Best Communication School (College) of the Year (National). Sharlaine Menezes, I MA Journalism and Mass Communication student of the college won Young Blogger of the Year, Kautilya National Achievers Award for the Youth 2021 and Annual Corporate Collateral Award for the Best Education Campaign. Fr (Dr) Thomas MJ, Principal, St Paul’s College and Jenin Raj S, HoD, PG Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication received the awards.

The awards ceremony was graced by P S Shreedharan Pillai, Governor of Goa, Dr Shri Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Govind Goude, Minister for Art & Culture, Goa and M B Jayaram, Chief Mentor and Chairman Emeritus, PRCI.

The PRCI Annual Corporate Collateral Awards is among the most esteemed event in the arena of corporate communications and is conducted to recognize and applaud excellence in talent and professional standards. For this year’s event, the jury comprised of eminent professionals from the corporate sector, mass communications and media.

PRCI is a professional body that connects PR, Corp Communication, Media, Advertising, Marketing communication and HR professionals, apart from mass communication academia and students.

The body organizes at national and regional levels events like conferences, discussions, lectures, practical training programmes, apart from annual global conclaves for sharing experience and facilitate the continued exchange of knowledge among professionals.

St Paul’s College is one of the educational undertakings of the Society of St Paul, an international Catholic institution founded by Blessed James Alberione in Alba, Italy on 20 August 1914, and is currently present in 32 countries across the globe. It is affiliated to Bangalore University and is recognized by the government of Karnataka. The college is located at Nagasandra near Peenya Industrial Area, and is easily accessible by road and Namma Metro services. The campus is spread across thirteen acres of land and nestled amongst lush green trees and colourful flower plants. It provides a conducive atmosphere for the holistic growth of the students. The college believes that every student is unique and gifted with the capacity to learn and realize his/her full potentials. Personal accompaniment is given to each student especially for those students who find learning a challenge.

The College is equipped with the latest facilities and modern infrastructure. It includes a state-of-the-art Television Studio, Professional Sound Recording Studio, Library, Computer Lab, Auditorium, Canteen, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket and Throwball courts and much more. Students are challenged and engaged through authentic learning opportunities that inspire them to develop creativity and self-confidence.

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the college offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. It not only focuses on journalism across all media, but also backs it up with modules on the design of the newspaper, advertising, writing skills, video production, photography, public relations and corporate communication, and thus opens up several career pathways to the students. The modules on journalism rest on a strong foundation of contemporary history, polity, social sciences, environment, computer science and research. The state-of-the-art media lab and studio at the college offer excellent facilities for developing practical media skills, so critical to students’ future careers.

“The college is well-equipped for journalism and media studies. We insist on practical knowledge over theories. Students are to work on media assignments on a day-to-day basis. We have mandatory internships for all our students in different media houses. We also make sure that they are placed well in tune with their aptitudes and performance,’’ said Jenin Raj, HoD, Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The students at St Paul’s College get the opportunity to publish their literary works in the International Publishing House—The Better Yourself Books—and the national youth magazine The Teenager Today and Inspirational Quote which are other enterprises of  the college management.
