Students lag behind in choosing trending courses: Ronald Pinto

Mangaluru: The fifth episode of Career Guidance with Prof. Ronald Pinto on Arts Courses was premiered on Friday October 15.

Brian Fernandes, Director of Spearhead Media Group hosted the show by NewsKarnataka, which is powered by Loyala College, Bengaluru.

He said, “Ronald pinto is very experienced in career guidance, and has given many programmes regarding the same. Eventhough he is a professor of Chemistry, he has a vast knowledge regarding various aspects of career building.”

He raised the question why students don’t choose Arts?

Prof. Ronald Pinto who is the Director of the Institute for Individual Development, Mangaluru, specifically talked about Art Courses.

Ronald Pinto said, “I guide parents and students what is the best course for 3 to 4 years further. If one can’t get job then our education system is a failure.

Students fail in choosing the professional subjects. There are many courses which are as good as Science and Commerce. Students lag behind in choosing trending courses like Journalism, Psychology, Jewellery Designing etc. They prefer old subjects like Political Science, History etc. There are very good career opportunities in Arts like many institutions appoint counselors, and hence Psychology is a good subject and also Journalism as many students from Science background too come forward to be the part of media today.

English literature has great demand all over the world. It has maximum demand, apart from teaching, there are many job opportunities for English specialists. Many advertising companies appoint English students as content writer, PROs etc.

Jewellery Designing students also get job in big companies like Malabar Gold, Joy Alukkas, Jos Alukkas etc.

If we look at Economics, we have varied branches in Economics which are in trend today. Further, Creative Arts like Music, Arts, Dance etc. has great demand worldwide. Many people earning in lakhs together by teaching music and dance.

And also for the students interested in sports, they can go for BPEd. and MPEd.
