Mysuru: Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology (VVIET) in association with IEEE Global TEMS Society organized the 3rd edition of the International Conference on ‘Technology, Engineering, Management for Societal impact using Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Talent’ (TEMSMET-2023) at its campus on February 10 and 11.
The conference was inaugurated by Pradeep P, Commissioner, Department of Collegiate and Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. Pradeep, in his inaugural address, mentioned that education has to be multi-disciplinary and the TEMSMET conference is an example of a multi–disciplinary platform for showcasing various technological advancements in many fields. He expressed that many such conferences should be conducted in making students and faculties participate in multidisciplinary opportunities. Steve Tockey, Principal Consultant, Construx Software Bellevue, Washington, United States and George RajanKoilpillai, Chief Engineer, Honeywell International Inc, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA delivered the keynote address.
The Secretary of VVET Kaveesh Gowda V felicitated the guests during the inaugural function. The Inaugural function was presided by Jawahar LNesan, Convener, State Education Policy, High-Level Committee, Government of Tamil Nadu and Advisor, VVIET, Mysuru, T S Manjunatha, Honorary Chair TEMSMET 2023, Bindu A. Thomas, General Chair, TEMSMET 2023, Yateendranath TJ, General Co-chair TEMSMET 2023, Devanathan M, Publication Chair, TEMSMET 2023, Heads of Institution of various colleges, and Special Invitees from industry and academia, Principals from various institutions were present and witnessed the inaugural function.
In his presidential address, Jawahar Nesan emphasized how critical it is that emerging technologies and modern science should be effectively used to address the fundamental challenges and questions facing humankind in this century including the psychologically troubled conditions that society faces, disruption of conscious experience of a human being caused by scientific advancements, and disruption of human interfaces and relations. He warned that unless these are addressed in the manner in which science is applied, the desirable social transformation and fabrics will be lost. He expected experts, scientists and technologists to address these issues and create more and more debates on these matters so that the trajectory of desirable social transformation will be achieved.
TEMSMET 2023 received submissions across the globe. To name a few from Indonesia, the US, Dubai, Hong Kong, UK and premiere institutes from Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Mizoram in India. TEMSMET 2023 has attracted over 500 plus scholarly submissions through thorough review from the reviewers. 110 high-quality scholarly submissions were selected for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Presentations were carried out in four parallel tracks in which invited domain experts from reputed colleges accessed the presentation and provided feedback to the participants. In each track, the best paper was awarded a cash prize and certificates. Students, Research Scholars, Industry Experts and faculty members from various colleges, universities and industries across the globe were invited to participate in this conference at VVIET.
