Three-day faculty development programme inaugurated at AIMIT

The inauguration ceremony of the three-day faculty development programme “Fruitful Research for Prolific Researchers” organised by the Department of MBA, St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology, (AIMIT), St Aloysius College (Autonomous) commenced at around 9.15 AM on August 19, 2015.

AIMITThe Rector of St Aloysius College, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo SJ. , Research Chair TATA Ethics Chair XLRI Jamshedpur and Chairman, AIMIT (MBA) Rev Dr. Oswald Mascarenhas SJ. Campus Administrator, Rev Fr Pradeep Sequira SJ. Research Dean Dr Babu Thomas and FDP Convener Ms Sumita Achar were the dignitaries present at the inaugural function.  The program convener Sumita Achar highlighted the pivotal role played by research in academics in her welcome speech. 

The Rector, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo SJ in his inaugural address informed the audience in his inimitable style of the rich history of the Jesuits in general and St Aloysius College in particular and added that the Jesuit ethos was in keeping with the ethos of genuine research.

 Rev Dr. Oswald Mascarenhas SJ giving a bird’s eye view of the future of research in India emphasised that research in India to be fruitful and meaningful has to have socially relevant approach and must make a meaningful contribution to society.

“Look at the world around you to get genuine subjects for meaningful research”, Fr Oswald urged the participants for the FDP. Dr. Oswald Mascarenhas cautioned the participants against confining their research to theoretical and academic ivory towers and ask them to involve in research that would yield practical and meaningful results in society. 

Rev Fr Pradeep Sequira SJ., in his concluding remarks reiterated the need to maintain the essential Jesuit principle of   Integrated Pedagogy Paradigm IPP- in all their research efforts. At the conclusion of the function the Research Dean Dr Babu Thomas proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr Rowena Wright Dean (Academics) and the faculty members of the Department of MBA, AIMIT were also present at the occasion. The programme was attended by more than 40 participants from various institutions around the country.
