Two-day painting workshop organized Group Aesthete Visual Art Club of Yenepoya Deemed University to be held

Mangaluru: A 2-day workshop on paintings by eminent artists from the artists’ forum, Ududp in association with Group Aesthete – an initiative by Yenepoya deemed University will be held on the 16th and 17th of November 2019. The inauguration will be held at the Yenviron, in the Yenepoya campus Deralakatte, on the 16th evening at 3.00 pm which will be followed by a live demonstration of a painting by Artist, Mr. Wilson. The programme will be inaugurated by Mr. Ramesh Rao, a renowned artist, who is the president of Artists Forum, Udupi. And who is also a Karnataka Rajyothsava awardee, this year? The camp will continue at the Sanctum beach resort, Battapady Beach Mangalore until Sunday evening.

Group Aesthete, a Visual Art Club, a platform for painting, photography and other forms of visual art was formed by the Yenepoya deemed to be University in September last year, with the inspiration and guidance of Dr. Akhter Husain, Dean of the Yenepoya dental College in the belief that, art plays a salient role and benefits the overall development of any student. He believes that a creatively inclined student has a positive bent of mind and aesthetic approaches and improves his thinking skills such as experimentation, exploration, invention, and imagination which is the foundation for higher-level thinking skills such as in research. It has proven to boost one’s self-image, self-esteem, confidence, pride as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. The act of creating art is also therapy by itself and a form of soft power which functions as a conscience of society.

In the intention of outmatching the facilities to the external student community (particularly medical) of other colleges around Mangalore, students from various colleges are also invited which will bring people together across disciplines. Interestingly students connect with each other better, greater peer support and encourage positive youth development.
