Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar on Tuesday December 28 said that there should be more and more research in the field of Science.
Speaking after inaugurating a three-day International conference on ‘Reproduction and Endocrinology’ at Vignana Bhavan in Manasagangothri he said, “the UoM has been recognised for its contribution to the field of genetics and zoology. The varsity is also known for research-related work. Genetics and genomics used to be part of the Zoology Department but it has been made a separate department. The UoM was started in the year 1930 and it has been in the forefront of research over the years.”
Prof Kumar said, “There will be a lot of discussions over the next three days. This will also help students to take up research in a big and better way.”
Baroda University’s retired Zoology Lecturer Prof A. V. Ramachandran gave a powerpoint presentation to the students who were present in large numbers.
SRBCI Vice President Prof. Suresh Yenugu, Secretary Prof. Michael Aruldas and Convenor S. Malini were present.
