Yenepoya (deemed to be University) celebrates International Women’s Day

The International Women’s Day was observed in the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University ) campus by the Gender Sensitization Cell under the aegis of the University on 8th March 2019 . Dr. Leena K.C, Principal , Yenepoya Nursing College and Convener Gender Sensitization Cell escorted the guest to the Dais.

The programme commenced with an Invocation by Mr Abdul Azeez TPA coordinator of YMCH. Dr. Leena K C welcomed the guests and the gathering which was followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The Guest of Honour for the programme , Mrs. Nasreen Yenepoya spoke on the occasion and said every successful man is backed by a woman but every successful woman is backed by other women.

The winners of the National Commission for women’s competition to create awareness about legal rights of women among students received their Certificates & cash prizes from Mrs Nasreen Yenepoya . The significance and the process of the competition was explained in brief by Mrs Sunita Prabhu , Student Welfare Officer of the University .

Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. C V Raghuveer said in his presidential address , that there is a special place for women in the University and many of them really have shown excellent and exemplary performance. He also stressed on the day’s theme ‘ #BalanceforBetter’.
Mrs. Tara Bhat, House Keeping Executive was felicitated on the occasion and her stellar service towards University was recounted .
Gender Champion badges and diaries were distributed to the individual gender champions of all the constituent colleges.
Dr. Sruthy Prathap of Yenepoya Dental College proposed vote of thanks, Mrs. Mudasir Rashid Baba, Yenepoya Physiotherapy College and Ms. Sanjana Yenepoya Pharmacy College & Research Centre compered the programme.

Dr. Gangadara Somayaji K S , Registrar, Dr. M.S Moosabba, Principal Yenepoya Medical College, Prof. Padmakumar, Principal Yenepoya Physiotherapy College, Mrs. Parvadhavardhini , Principal, Yenepoya Institute of Arts,Science,Commerce & Management , Balmatta , Teaching staff and non teaching staff and a large number of students attended this programme. 

Programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by all present .
