Mangaluru: An information and awareness program was held at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital Deralakatte Mangalore under the Department of Psychiatry as a part of the World Suicide Prevention Day
Dr Habib Rahaman, Medical Superintendent, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, who was present at the event, said that when thoughts like suicide arise in the mind, we can freely discuss the matter with our dear friends and find a solution. Department doctors Dr Manu Anand and Dr PMA Nishad gave valuable information in Kannada and Malayalam about how the source of suicide can be prevented by the advice and treatment given by expert doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists.
In this awareness program, the head of the biochemistry department, Dr Raghavendra Upadhyaya, Chief Nursing Officer Bridget Dsilva, Deputy hospitals operations officer of the Hospital Administration Department Mohammad Sabith, Hospital Quality Officer
Dr Vijeta Thingalaya, Senior Marketing Executive Vijayananda Shetty were present at the program, The Professor and Head of Psychiatry department Dr Anil Kakunje welcomed everyone and gave introductory remarks, Assistance professor Dr Ravichandra Karkala paid tribute. This awareness program mastered by Shivaprasad of Marketing Department.
Students of Ujire Shri Ksethra Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College Neha C and Apoorva S and also Dr Mahehdra Kodikani of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital displayed posters with good messages about suicide prevention and was awarded first, second and third prizes respectively.
