Mangaluru: Yenepoya Pharmacy College and Research Centre, Mangaluru, and National Service Scheme Unit, had organized Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary celebration, and National Service Scheme’s 50th year Commemorative, on January 28, 2019, at Shree Bharathi Aided Higher Primary School, Mudipu, Kurnad.
As many as fifty students, with addition to the staff of Yenepoya Pharmacy College had participated in the event. Awareness programmme was organized on cleanliness, hygiene and drug remedies.
The college students demonstrated different methods and significance of cleanliness and sanitation, and also displayed posters of the same. Around fifteen boys staged a face performance regarding drug abuse. This performance was a key element of the awareness programme.
A group of students also organized different games for school children and distributed prizes to the winners.
Ramakrishna Bhat, Headmaster, Shree Bharathi Aided Higher Primary School, welcomed the students and the staff of Yenepoya Pharmacy College and Research Centre.
Speaking on the occassion, Ramakrishna Bhat said, “For the development of the nation and our society, the youth should volunteer for various social activities, along with curriculum activities.”
Haleema Shaheen, Asst Professor, Yenepoya Pharmacy College and Research Centre, addressing the gathering said that Mahatma Gandhi had a vision of a peaceful and clean India, and it is our responsibility to make it a reality.
Mohammed Asif, Head of National Service Scheme, and Shilpa M, Asst. Secretary were present during the occassion.
