The NSS is an ideal value-based youth programme. A team of the University work on major projects like Cancer awareness outreach programme under the able guidance of Vice-chancellor Dr M Vijayakumar Oncosurgeon, in which we have trained the Programme officers and volunteers of Karnataka state who in-turn create awareness to the community at large, particularly the rural population in early detection of cancer. More than 28,500 NSS Volunteers and Programme officers have been trained in the entire Karnataka population

NSS Team has adopted 5 villages and discuss the issues of social relevance, which keep evolving in response to the needs of the community, through regular and special camping activities. Such issues include health, family welfare and nutrition, environment conservation, social service programmes,  programmes for the empowerment of women, Blood donation campaigns, rescue and relief during calamities, etc. NSS team of Yenepoya also helps for Agricultural Development. More number of NSS volunteers participated in Kattathila Rice Field. NSS Unit has chosen to transform and repurpose this overlooked and environmentally harmful  PET  bottle into one that is a useful resource. We have planned to construct a functional room in  Kattathila school,  using  “waste”  PET  bottles instead of conventional bricks under the theme Clean India.

The NSS teams were instrumental in creating awareness about social distancing and the proper usage of masks in times of COVID 19 by organising the National level conference on COVID prevention for youths of all over India. Our volunteer’s officers were also helpful in providing the quarantine facilities and isolated patients with food and other useful products required during these times.
