Mangaluru: In 2008, The Minister of Human Resources, Government of India decided and announced to celebrate Nation Education Day on 11th November to mark the birth anniversary of Indian independence activist, writer and first Minister of Education in the Indian government Dr Maulana Abul Kalam Azad said. Mr Nagaprasad Reddy, incharge of principal, Morarji Desai PU College, Deralakatte in his welcome address in the national education day celebration organized by Students Council, Yenepoya Pharmacy College & Research Centre (YPCRC), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) on 13.11.2021.
Asst. Prof. Mrs Nishmitha Dsouza read out the significance of the day and highlighted the history, life and ways of Abul Kalam. Chief guest Dr Mohammed Gulzar principal, YPCRC added a few insights on the contribution of Dr. Maulana Abul Kalam in the establishment of IIT and Universities Grants Commission (UGC) in India and he also mentioned that Dr Abul Kalam was awarded the prestigious Bharat Ratna award in recognition to his contribution in the field of Indian education.
As a part of the event Asst. Prof. Dr Symmayath T had given a guest talk on the theme Healthy Life: Physical, Mental and Spiritual Wellbeing and Asst. Prof. Mrs Tahreen Taj on Diet and Adolescence. Dr Darshan CJ conducted various psychological activities for both students and staff of Morarji Desai PU College and Mrs Prajitha Biju, Chairperson, Student Council, YPCRC distributed prizes to all the winners.
In her vote of thanks speech, she acknowledges the management of Yenepoya and Morarji Desai PU College for their support in organizing and celebrating National Education Day and she also thanks her colleagues for educating students and staff of PU College on various themes.
