Bengaluru: With the aim of creating awareness among various stakeholders, especially the end-users, about the scope, relevance and subsequent impact of Decentralised Renewable Energy powered technologies, CLEAN is organising an Awareness Creation and Demonstration Workshop for Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) Appliances.

CLEAN envisions that focused awareness generation initiatives will help the underserved communities get access to clean and reliable energy. It is also expected to have an overarching positive impact on other critical facets of their lives, such as their health, education, livelihood generation etc. This will ensure a strong intersection of SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent work and Economic Growth) and SDG 13 (Climate Action) to name a few.

This workshop is part of CLEAN’s ongoing pan-India initiative to sensitise stakeholders, especially potential end-users about various innovative energy-based solutions such as Solar Rice processing machines, Millet processing machines, Solar freezers, etc., which can impact livelihoods and bring about a change in their lives.

Speaking about the initiative, Svati Bhogle, Chairperson of CLEAN said, “CLEAN and its members are consistently working towards accelerating energy access in the remote pockets of the country. We have growing examples where increased use of productive applications have led to local employment generation. Therefore, initiative such as this one serves to build greater awareness on the technologies, access to finance and market opportunities for rural businesses.”

The workshop will sensitise key players such as Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO’s), Department of Horticulture, State Departments, SRLM, State Nodal Agencies, agro and food processing units about innovative DRE technologies, suited to their various needs. It is anticipated that learning from the workshop would enable local enterprises, working on DRE technologies, get access to markets for their products and in turn be able to support local employment generation. It is also expected to help stakeholders such as MFIs and the government understand the scope and relevance of DRE powered technologies and going forward, support with financial linkages (MFIs) and policy support (government).
