Former editor of Konkani weekly ‘Raknno’ Fr V V Menezes passes away

Mangaluru: Fr Vincent Victor Menezes, former editor of well-known Konkani weekly magazine ‘Raknno’, passed away on Thursday, May 20. He was 75.

Fr Vincent, son of Gregory and Magdalen Menezes, hailed from Valencia. He was ordained to the priesthood on October 23, 1974.

He was an assistant priest in Kirem and Bejai parishes, as well as a parish priest in Pernal, Narampady, Miyar, Cascia, and Paldane, as well as a resident priest in Bendore parish.

Fr Vincent had pursued his studies in journalism in Mumbai and had served as the managing editor of Konkani weekly magazine ‘Raknno’ from 1985 to 1993. He had also served as the parochial administrator in Derebail.

After his retirement in 2019, he was living at St Zuze Vaz Home in Jeppu.

His Funeral Rite will take place on Friday, May 20 at 10.00 a.m. at Priests’ Cemetery, Valencia Church.
