Mangaluru: Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka – A voluntary association exclusively formed with the sole intention of promoting Konkani language and literature in the year 2018. From the year 2022, Konkani Lekhak Sangh has selected and honoured a Konkani writer who has immensely contributed to Konkani literature.
The Konkani Lekhak Sangh Award Committee has selected well-known Konkani writer Dr Gerald Pinto (Gerry Niddodi) for the year 2024 award. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 25000/-, a citation and a Memento.
Dr Gerald Pinto served as the President of the Catholic Sabha, Central Committee, and an Editor of ‘Amcho Sandesh.’ He is the recipient of Danthy Memorial Award, Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award, Daiji Dubai Literary Award, Divo Sahitya Award and Amcho Sandesh Silver Jubilee Award.
He has served as the Director of ‘Manasa’ Pamboor. He has served as Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur, Udupi. Presently he is the Director of MCC Bank Ltd., Mangalore.
Dr Gerald Pinto has written 6 Novels, 75 short stories and more than 900 articles on different subjects.
The award will be conferred on February 17, 2024, at 6.30 p.m., at Sandesha Premises, Sandesha Foundation, Bajjodi, Mangaluru.
