Grand finale of Kelarai Yuva Karbar held on Nov 29

Mangaluru: St Anne Church witnessed a historic event as people gathered to witness the grand finale of Kelarai Yuva Karbar season one and season two on November 29, 2015.

The event also included various other activities like inter parish funny skit competition, inter parish cooking without fire competition, food fest, sports fest, fancy fete. St Anne School ground was filled with children, youth and adults to taste the vibrations of all these colorful events.

Unique inauguration

The program was inaugurated in a unique manner by placing lighted lamps by all ward gurkars and other leaders on 24 hour time piece specially prepared for the day. Parish Priest Fr Joachim Fernandes placed the hands of the time piece and declared the event open. The guest of honor E. Fernandes turned the roulette wheel to mark the inauguration of fancy fete games. Lancy Robert Pais and Alice Vas vice president and secretary of Parish pastoral Parishad respectively unveiled the trophies.

Kelarai Yuva Karbar (KYK season 1 and 2)

To bring the youth to the forefront Parish Pastoral Parishad organized a unique concept with the help of Santhosh D’Costa and Fr Vishal Monis. All the youth of the parish were divided into six teams. The KYK season one was held in the field. All types of village games in the slushy field were memorable as it was done for the first time.

Season two was held in the St Anne School ground. Many youth got back to Kelarai to participate in KYK. As Keliye Kambla Rede won the KYK Trophy along with Rs 10,000.00, Nirmar Nakkurs won the Second Place with Rs 7,000 cash prize. Third place was awarded to Philikumeri Philis along with the Rs 5,000 cash prize.

Sports and Food Festival

St Anne Church organized food and Sports festival for the first time. Inter ward sports and games competitions were held for all the category of people. All fourteen ward members participated in an enthusiastic way. St Sebastian Ward won the first place in this completion.

Inter Parish Cooking without Fire and Jokes Competition

In the jokes category Fermai team was declared winner and Kelarai team were the runners up. Cooking without fire competition was won by Kelarai team and Vamanjoor team were the runners up. Both the events were sponsored by Prince Caterers Neermarga.

  1. T. Khader was the chief guest at the concluding program. In his message he wished all a happy day in Konkani. Later, he asked the youth to work together for the betterment of society. Pramod Kumar, Circle inspector Kankanady Police Station asked the parents to take care of the youth and kids who are becoming a prey to the social media.

Fr Joachim Fernandes presided over the program. Asst. parish priest of Kelarai Vishal Monis, Zilla Panchayath member Melwin, Denis D’Silva, Lancy Robert Pais, Alice Vas, E. Fernandes were present on the dais.  Santhosh D’Costa compered the program.
